1936 Fantasy CrownThe Unofficial 1936 Fantasy Crown
The Edward VIII piece dated 1936 is a privately produced fantasy issue, not a coin struck by an Australian government mint for circulation or official pattern testing.
Examples appeared commercially during the 1960s and were sold in several reverse styles. The Australian version carries a kangaroo, while other privately made versions used designs associated with Britain, Ceylon and Bermuda.
These pieces can still be collected as modern fantasy medals, but they must never be described as official Australian crowns, legal tender or genuine Royal Australian Mint patterns.
